Events and activities

At Eversley we aim to give all members of our community experiences which are exciting, enjoyable and challenging.  We  try to offer a wide range of activities which support the curriculum and also widen everyone's horizons. For example:

  • We hold a variety of specialist weeks which focus on a specific area and provide opportunities to study this area in more depth thus developing children's interest, skills and motivation.
  • We have held a book week, sports week, environment week, science week and arts week.
  • We invite speakers, specialised workshop providers, artists and theatre groups to work with us in school.
  • We are fortunate to be able to offer a wide range of lunchtime and after school clubs many of which are run by staff.
  • We arrange school visits to museums, galleries, sports venues and places of interest.

Sports

We are proud to have been awarded an 'Activemark' by Sport England. This is a national award given to schools who have shown that they making efforts in keeping pupils fit and healthy. The scheme is backed by the British Heart Foundation.

We offer a wide range of sporting activities and work in partnership with other organisations. These organisations often provide specialist sports coaches who work with different classes.Middlesex University provide us with a Rugby coach. We have had football, tennis, and hockey coaches.

We have a special relationship with Middlesex University as they use our children and facilities to help train student teachers in how to teach PE.

Every year we have a sports week when children are able to try out many different activities. In 2006 the sports week was based on "dance".

For the past three years pupils in year 6 have taken part in the Young Voices for CLIC Sargent Charity Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

It is always a long day but everyone has a great time singing with so many other schools and famous performers.

Productions

Every child is given the opportunity to take part in some form of performance.

The children in year 4 act out scenes from the nativity during our annual carol concert. Year 6 children read the story. This takes place at St Thomas Church.Year 6 children take part in a final production in June after all the exams are over.  In previous years we have staged adapted versions of West Side Story, Bugsy Malone and Grease.

However, there is one important event that has become tradition!!! It is the last week of the Autumn Term - everyone gathers in the hall for an assembly. The cleaners appear ... then the curtains roll back ... excitement all around as the staff act out a new twist to another myth or legend - yes, it is the staff pantomine!!
