Introduction to Eversley

Our school is situated in a pleasant residential area in western Enfield. We are lucky to have a large playing field, three playgrounds and a small nature reserve. We have two buildings with the younger children working in one building and the older children in the other. However, the older children are encouraged to take an active part in helping and supporting younger children at work and at play.

It is important that children are involved in a variety of activities centred around the school. We have football, netball and athletics teams and have clubs for chess, art, aerobics, French, fencing, gymnastics and nature as well as a choir and orchestra.

The children at Eversley are required to work hard and we do believe in the great benefit to a child’s learning when all who are involved in their schooling work co-operatively together. We have close links with parents who are very supportive of the school and we are fortunate in having families from different ethnic backgrounds.

We believe that everyone should feel valued and secure at school and we work hard to ensure that the self esteem of all children is fostered and that they are encouraged to be independent and tolerant. We are proud of the strong sense of community at Eversley and regard it as a strength of the school.

Children, parents, staff and governors worked together on our Behaviour Policy and we drew up the understandings which determine the way in which we believe that children and adults should behave.

•  we must be safe
•  we must think, listen and work hard
•  we must respect each other and each other’s property

We have high expectations of children, both in work and in play, and the children of Eversley respond positively to these expectations. We believe that we achieve high standards and help children to understand their responsibilities.
